Annotation

This paper explores how women are rendered in Ghanaian radio commercials and states whether such representations render, strengthen or defy feminine practices. An assay of thirty-seven gender-linked ads unveils that, though women are seldom rendered as defying gender stereotypes, they are occasionally rendered as employing certain traditionally stereotyped roles as ‘power’ sources to defy other stereotypes.
