Annotation

This article supplies a simulation method drafted to explore the credibility of diverse potential transmission-based shifts, employing the Tolerance Principle (Yang, 2016) to fix exact points at which diverse potential shifts may become credible for children learning language. This method is applied to a case study of an intricate shift topically in progress: the allophonic reconstituting of /æ/ in Philadelphia English.
