Annotation

This article synthesizes the literature on cognitive aging, emotion regulation, and humor, to supply a theoretical framework for the utility of humor in aiding successful cognitive aging. As older adults seem to have difficulty solving more intricate jokes, it is argued that low ravel, self-enhancing humor may be the most helpful humor form for older adults.
