This paper centers on doctor jokes as a joke category popular both in Poland and English-speaking countries, but the wide category of doctor jokes is here limited to those which convey the doctor’s advice: this aims at specifying and collating the jocular advice scripts, pivotal to the doctor-patient relation in both cultures, setting them against the earnest advice script.
