This paper combines the results from two studies situated in two educational institutions in Estonia in order to find out about new speakers’ language attitudes and experiences in connection to learning and using Estonian. Findings indicate that these speakers fluctuate between two prototypical discourses, which are broadly dubbed as ‘resistance’ and ‘adaptation’ to newspeakerness.
