Introduction to a special issue of the journal, prepared by the members of the media-linguistic commission of the International Committee of Slavists, is devoted to the study of the forms, methods and techniques of humour in the media texts written in three Slavic languages. Based on the analysis of media language, the authors are looking for answers to the question of how the use of humour in web-based media texts helps to generate the persuasive effect on mass audience.
