Miller, Max. 1978. Pragmatic constraints on the linguistic realization of 'semantic intentions' in early child language. In Waterson, Natalie and Catherine E. Snow, eds. The development of communication. J. Wiley. pp. 453–467.

The aim of this paper is to point out some reasons for the theoretical empirical inadequacy of 'reduction transformations' to describe and explain elliptical linguistic realizations of semantic intentions by children, and to present evidence for the treatment of these realizations on the basis of pragmatic regularities.
