O. and G associate presupposition with a relation between linguistic form and given information. In order to account for the projection problem they show that certain sentences must lack presuppositions so as not to violate pragmatic principles, and they posit rules which make the inheritance of presuppositions sensitive to the presence of certain lexical items.
