Ohmann, Richard. 1970. Speech acts and the definition of literature. Philosophy and Rhetoric 4 (1) : 1–19.
Annotation
A literary work is defined as a discourse whose sentences lack the illocutionary forces that would normally attach to them. Its illocutionary force is mimetic, i.e. a literary work purportedly imitates a series of speech acts.
