The ability to recognize contexts is based on criteria more complex than the extralinguistic setting as investigated by the ethnography of speaking. Modifications of perspectives by re-interpretation take place also in ritualized sequences so that analysis within a frame theory is rendered problematic. Glossing practices of the participants in everyday conversation can be utilized as indicators.
