Starting from a semantico-pragmatic analysis of explicit performatives, R. re-examines the main issues of the theory of speech acts: the delimitation of semantics and pragmatics, the classification of illocutionary acts, the distinction between meaning and illocutionary force, etc. Inspired by Grice, R.'s stance is anticonventionalist.
