Annotation

The hypothesis put forward is that, in a sentence-type of the form 'p mais q', two 'mais' can be distinguished. They show different semantic as well as distributional properities, and they are comparable to the German 'aber'/'sondern' and the Spanish 'pero'/'sino'.
