R. argues that psychological categories have internal structure (i.e., instances of categories differ in the degree to which they are like the 'focal examples' of the category), that the nature of the structure of the perceptual categories of color and form is determined by perceptually salient 'natural prototypes', and that nonperceptual semantic categories also have internal structure which affects the way they are learned and how they function in cognitive processes.
