An attempt to incorporate an account of perlocutionary acts into the framework of pragmatics. Some types of perlocutionary acts are discussed with reference to Habermas' (1971: 'Vorbereitende Bemerkungen zu einer Theorie der kommunikativen Kompetenz') classes of speech acts.
