Annotation

A longitudinal investigation of the English of a Spanish-speaking foreign worker in the U.S., as compared to the English of five Spanish-speaking individuals from academic families in the U.S. S. performs a detailed linguistic analysis of their second-language development, and discusses the principles underlying the process of second-language acquisition, and the reasons why pidginization persists in some speakers, and not in others.
