Annotation

Communication is studied as the 'vector resultant' of the communicator's communicative aims and the expressive means available for their realization (of which he lists, discusses and exemplifies some). Several modes of communication (speaking, signing, gesturing, writing) are thus analyzed. He discusses 'schema-formation', conflicts of aims, limitations of means, language acquisition, individual differences, language comparison and language change.
