The aim is to outline the framework of a theory of metaphor compatible with nonrepresentational realism (a philosophy that rejects the need for internal representations that correspond to an unknowable world beyond), to distinguish this new approach from some traditional views of metaphor, and to describe a study of the processes catalyzed by metaphoric sentences.
