Pauses are evaluated on a prestige and a dynamism dimension. Guises with pauses are rated as more articulate, educated, etc., but they are equally rated as less assertive, confident, etc. than guises without pauses. Differential evaluation does not occur on the solidarity dimension. This inquiry also confirms that the evaluation of pauses is multidimensional and variable as topic or stance interact with the evaluation of guises.
