Drawing on linguistic ethnographic data analysis, this paper extends the Rampton’s concept of ‘language crossing’ (LC) through integrating the notion of ‘linguistic racism’ (LR) experienced by Mongolian background immigrant women in Australia. Their everyday linguistic resistance strategies to combat LR further add two new dimensions to the LC concept: LC as a resistance strategy and as a passing strategy.
