This article aims at establishing a first basic repertoire of Catalan emblematic gestures, i.e. a set of nonverbal codes complementing and/or substituting the verbal code, whilst discussing factors which participate in the classification of the items and which may shed light on the conventionalization process from gesture to emblem.
