This analysis of recorded interactions between Spanish 'delinquent jargon' speakers from different social spheres confirms the dynamic character of conversation, resulting from the interaction of power relationships, social distance and social space and speakers' attitudes. A distinction is made between two basic conversational attitudes: the establishment of social links and the protection of individuality.
