This volume which deals with endangered languages that will probably not survive the 21st century, includes: a list of all the indigenous languages of Mexico and Canada; an appraisal of Indian languages; a list of endangered USSR languages; a history of Native American language loss in the US; an overview of endangered languages in 12 Southeast Asian nations; endangered South American languages; endangered languages of Australia, Indonesia and Oceania; and language death in Africa. Two parts of the world are not taken into account: Europe and the Middle East as far as Afghanistan and Central America and the Carribean.
