This paper discusses the verbal system of Juba Arabic, an Arabic-based pidgin of southern Sudan, and compares it with Ki-Nubi, an Arabic-based eastern African creole and with Sudanese Colloquial Arabic. It is argued that Juba Arabic moves apart from Ki-Nubi as a result of the influence of Sudanese Colloquial Arabic and its ensuing depidginization.
