Annotation

Six of the nine papers in this volume deal with Sranan and Negerhollands, creoles spoken in former Dutch territories. The other three respectively compare Haitian and Martinican creole; investigate the linguistic status of early Bajan; and provide a general comparative study. A recurrent theme throughout is whether the creolization process is abrupt or gradual.
