Annotation
This paper examines the written Dutch of lower class writers in 19th century Bruges (Flanders, Belgium), which shows a combination of idiosyncratic orthography and 'stylistic breakdown'. This combination was even employed by middle and upper class writers, but they chose the standard style earlier than the lower class writers.
