This study shows how non-Chickasaw Speakers within the Oklahoma Chickasaw Nation adopt and intensify ethnolinguistic language ideologies that link them to the Chickasaw language via discourses of language affiliation through familial relationship to Speakers; some plane of Chickasaw language acquisition or activism; and/or a familial relationship to the language learners and activists in the second category.
