Annotation

This paper explores the language use among the Old Order Swiss Amish of Allen County (Indiana). Besides the primary colloquial language, a variety of Low Alemannic, English and Pennsylvania German are important community languages, and some speakers also know standard German and Bernese Swiss. The large amount of phonological variation and the lexical borrowings suggest language convergence.
