Annotation

This study claims that the actual contact between Mongghul and local northwestern Chinese is best considered as a kind of “massive borrowing” within Thomason and Kaufman's (1988) framework. Furthermore, the borrowing induces Mongghul endangerment, partly because of the governmental omission to help it adjust to changing socio-economic situations.
