This paper discusses on-the-ground, speaker-age linked acceptance vs. rejection of the Peruvian state-initiated standardization reform of the Perené Ashéninka language, according to the spelling conventions of the rivalling Tambo Asháninka variety, given notable decrease of Perené Ashéninka use, caused by community-wide shift to the national Spanish language.
