Annotation
C. develops a general theory of language structure, based on the assumption of the primacy of semantic structure. First he develops a general perspective following a hypothetical sequence of changes that may have taken place in the evolution of language. Then, he tries to formalize various aspects of semantic structure with special reference to English, but with one chapter on Onondaga.
