An empirical investigation supporting the hypothesis that non-linguistic coherency and an interaction between linguistic and non-linguistic events in the establishment of coherent child-child exchanges pre-date the establishment of adult-like conversationality, and thus modifying the view of E.O.Keenan and E.Klein (1975: 'Coherency in children's discourse').
