Annotation

Arguing with S. Schmerling (1971: 'Presupposition and the notion of normal stress', and later works by the same author), F. points to a 'neutral' intonation pattern in East Norwegian that leaves open the informational status (new vs. given) of all parts of an utterance. This pattern is used in the sort of contextless citation discussed by Schmerling, but for other purposes as well.
