This paper discusses how the woman's pages and travel writing of two female journalists in Toronto (Kit Coleman of The Daily Mail and Faith Fenton of The Empire), during the period 1888-1895, enabled the newspapers to add to nation-building in a multitude of ways. The female journalists' mobile practices constitued strategies for handling and continuing the emerging modernity conditions.
