This article examines how semiosis can be employed in the classroom as a progressive tool for the development of democratic education, linking Peirce's later semiotic theory with Dewey's education theory, recognizing the relevance of social capital in the process and emphasizing the irrelevance of considering mediation as an isolated phenomenon.
