Annotation

This analysis demonstrates how in four stand-up comedian shows, performed by African American artists in front of black and white audiences in Los Angeles, the interactional context of jokes is constantly oriented to via a colloquial register, fillers and "pags", and modeled as informal environment where jokes on delicate topics, such as sex and race, can be more readily agreed to.
