Annotation

This paper demonstrates that language use and choice amongst Kurds in Turkey are significantly linked to variables such as education level, gender, age, rural versus urban residence and the entire socio-cultural and political settings. It is argued that the ruling Kurdish community bilingualism in Turkey develops at the expense of Kurdish, resulting in a shift-oriented linguistic situation for Kurdish.
