This paper attempts to generate a trusty and sound scale to evaluate adaptive and maladaptive humor in children (in the example UK school children aged 9–15 years), based on the adult Humor Styles Questionnaire (HSQ). Longitudinal research is required to further explore connections between humor styles and social competence in children.
