Annotation

It is displayed how both non-native and native (upper secondary school) Norwegian speakers can discursively frame themselves and others as more or less skilled speakers. Students exhibit more intricate membership categorizations than the binary Norwegian/non-Norwegian partition of applied linguistic inquiry and policy documents. This paper shows how institutionally defined linguistic markets, linguistic capital and legitimate speakers can be challenged at the local level of student interactions.
