Annotation

This inquiry explored online cultural reflections of audience comments on social network sites concerning vocal talent shows in China and the US. It applied cross culture dimensions to examine audience comments on the official social networking sites of The Voice of China and The Voice. Results reflect Hofstede’s dimensions as applied to social media and elucidate how individuals change their “local” cultural norms in the novel media milieu. The inquiry especially increases the quest of cultural demonstrations in cyberspace, which less cross-cultural studies have investigated.
