This study explores the diverse languages students employ in informal class debates in a Pakistan university setting and their motivations for doing so there. Results state that albeit English is the university's language of instruction, the students showed unaware translanguaging in their debates of chiefly English and Pashto (their native language), and some Urdu (the national language).
