This work constitutes an attempt at a scholarly, linguistically oriented investigation of recorded language among different generations of American Hungarians at South Blend (Indiana). The focus is on Hungarian language competence, the changes to Standard Hungarian under the influence of English, and the transformation of Standard to American Hungarian.
