Dedicated to the 11th Slavistic Congress (Bratislava, Slovakia, 1993), this volume mainly deals with the social functioning of the Macedonian language and in particular with the following phenomena: the Macedonian language within the Balkan Sprachbund; (especially southern) Macedonian dialects; and the standardization process within the modern Macedonian language.
