This book proposes to establish a vitality rating of 50 Indic languages by means of a geolinguistic survey and to integrate this construct into broader language construct scenarios. The six major parts of this book consist of: (socio)linguistic language surveys; historical background on Indic languages; types of language contact and distribution; profiles of language standardization and development; theories of language spread and scenarios of language contact; and language vitality measurement in selected contexts.
