Abstract

The paper offers further evidence that objectification (Szwedek 2000, 2002, 2004) is the basic mechanism in metaphorisation. For example, before such concepts as LIFE and MIND can be assigned any structure (elements and functions) they have to be objectified (LIFE IS AN OBJECT, MIND IS AN OBJECT). Only then can they be specified as JOURNEY (also objectified first) and MACHINE respectively. Those observations support further the embodiment hypothesis as well as objectification of our abstract worlds. (Aleksander Szwedek)
