Abstract
Based on the Greek myth of Demeter and Persephone instantiating the archetypal images of the great Mother and the Kore, the paper offers an exploration of the depths of the woman psyche. Using the paradox of the myth in that Persephone represents the perfect balance between being the goddess of death and the creator of life at the same time, it offers a supplementary understanding of postpartum depression which is framed as a way to lose and reconstruct self.
