Abstract

The present article discusses two experiments carried out to investigate to what extent action simulation influences the so-called ‘offline’ comprehension at a global discourse level. To achieve this, such parameters as measuring ‘offline’ explicit and implicit processing of discourse, the time needed to recognize words from discourse as well as assessing sentences as correct or incorrect with respect to the content of text were taken into account. The obtained results show that a simulation system considerably influences comprehensive processing of information based on interpretation and deduction in comparison with shallow processing based on information explicitly given in the text.
