Abstract

The review focuses on the notion of the so-called ‘applied metaphor’, thoroughly presented in the volume Researching and Applying Metaphor in the Real World. The development of research upon metaphor towards its more empirically-oriented character corresponds with RaAM project, the volume itself being a collection of contributions to the 2006 RaAM conference. All contributions discuss a more applicable character of metaphors with reference to a vast area of the so-called ‘real world’ contexts and problems, such as socially important multi-modal discourse areas in business, reconciliation talks, politics, methodological issues, or language learning/teaching applications.
