This article examines the lexical and semantic representation of concepts based on the notion of semantic matrices and logoschemas. A semantic matrix models different parts of the interpretative field; a logoschema defines the conceptual parameters of semantic structures. The author proposes to single out a metaconceptual layer in a concept, which stands for the active zone where the semantics of the linguistic sign emerges and which plays a crucial role in the generation of cognitive metaphors.
