The paper offers an analysis of two Nabokov’s poems, and aims to explore the DIVIDED SELF metaphor as found in his poetry. In particular, it focuses on the dichotomy between the Subject and the Self. The authors of the paper attempt to explain the way Nabokov approaches the Subject from his own perspective of living in exile. Also, they try to account for the meaning of the Self in Nabokov’s poems, pointing to the poet’s feelings of anguish and longing for his Russian past.
