This article analyzes the relation between paradox and narrative metalepsis in Jorge Luis Borge’s short story “The Other”. This short story serves as a model to illustrate and show the underlying difficulties for the classification of metalepsis as well as a tool to classify narrative types on the basis of the paradox criterion, according to which the borders between the narrator’s world and the narrated world, ontologically different, are not distinctively separated.
